After nearly 30 years of producing exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon, the Duncan family of Silver Oak established Twomey in 1999 to craft wines from new varietals and dynamic vineyards. By 2002, our passion for Pinot took over, and we bottled our first vintage of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
Named after Velma Twomey Duncan, mother of Silver Oak co-founder Ray Duncan, at Twomey we embrace many of the same core principles as Silver Oak: quality, sustainable farming, innovation—but above all, a deep commitment to continuous improvement at every level.
At Twomey, our culture of curiosity and collaboration, combined with a near-obsessive focus on the vineyard, has even resulted in important contributions at Silver Oak. For instance, Jean-Claude Berrouet’s work at Soda Canyon Ranch helps our Silver Oak Napa Valley vineyard team make more informed planting, irrigation and picking decisions.
We also believe that a thriving company culture and shared sense of community result in better wines. Giving back to our community, with an emphasis on local healthcare and education, ensures our long-term sustainability as farmers, vintners and a community.
Looking toward the next horizon, we are currently planning new wineries and tasting room locations in the Anderson Valley and the Willamette Valley – putting wine quality first by moving closer to where our fruit is sourced. Because it’s all about your enjoyment of our wines.
