Justin Hirigoyen
Vice President of Winemaking
With over 15 years of experience across iconic estates in both France and California, Justin Hirigoyen brings a global perspective and deep technical expertise to his role as Vice President of Winegrowing at Silver Oak Cellars.
His winemaking journey began in Provence at Château d’Esclans followed by time in Bordeaux and formal training at the Centre de Formation d’Apprentis in Burgundy, where Justin earned technical degrees in viticulture and oenology while working full-time at the storied Domaine Faiveley. He returned to California to further his career in premium wine production, eventually serving as winemaker at Spring Mountain Vineyard.
In 2019, he joined the Twomey team as Winemaker, quickly rising to Director of Winemaking in 2021. During his tenure, he led the winery’s focused pursuit of Pinot Noir excellence, helping elevate vineyard expression and site specificity across the portfolio.
Currently, Justin leads all facets of winegrowing for the Silver Oak Cellars portfolio—Silver Oak, Twomey, Timeless Napa Valley and Prince Hill Vineyards—overseeing vineyard strategy, farming practices and winemaking execution across diverse regions and varietals. From site selection and clone trials to barrel aging and final blends, he plays an integral role in shaping wines that reflect their origin with precision and purpose. Known for his thoughtful, detail-driven approach, Justin draws on both intuition and data to guide decisions in the vineyard and cellar, believing that the best wines emerge from a dynamic dialogue between nature, vintage, and the hands that steward them.
Outside of work, Justin is an avid trail and ultra-distance runner who has maintained his invitational division status in the historic Dipsea Race for over 10 years. He lives in Marin County with his wife and young daughter where they enjoy heading to Stinson Beach or Mt. Tam as often as possible.
