Twomey has always been about crafting expressive wines from remarkable vineyards, beginning more than two decades ago with our Soda Canyon Ranch Merlot in 1999. Shortly after, we acquired our first Pinot Noir vineyard in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. Our hearts were smitten with the grape variety, and the rest is history.

Today, Twomey Merlot collectors seek out these wines for their Right Bank profile and incredible ageworthiness. Some early vintages are only now entering their prime window or drinkability. These qualities are no coincidence, as from 2011 to 2016, we worked exclusively with Château Pétrus legend Jean-Claude Berrouet to craft this single vineyard bottling.  The result is a blend of California’s fruit-forward style and tannic backbone, with the subtlety and restraint of Bordeaux.

A Single Vineyard Expression of Soda Canyon Ranch

“Wine is a product that tells a story, the story of its land. Merlot here in California has a different expression from that at Pomerol, of Bordeaux, of Italy, or of Switzerland. Its own characteristics, and that is what I want to respect.”—Jean-Claude Berrouet, Merlot Consultant
