Oakville Estate Vineyard

Located mid-valley in the heart of the Napa Valley AVA, our Oakville Estate Vineyard borders the Silver Oak LEED Platinum winery. Silver Oak visitors are often surprised to see a Sauvignon Blanc vineyard in the heart of Cabernet Sauvignon country. But in 2010, our vineyard team determined the vineyard’s alluvial soils between the Napa River and Conn Creek were ideal for Sauvignon Blanc.

Characterized by warm, breezy days that melt into cool and often foggy evenings, the Oakville Estate Vineyard is carefully farmed to control vigor and produce Sauvignon Blanc with crisp citrus flavors and refreshing mineral notes.

Napa Valley AVA

The Napa Valley AVA is California’s most renowned AVA—and its first. It’s nestled between the Mayacamas Mountain Range to the west and north (which also define and separate Napa Valley from Sonoma Valley) and the Vaca Mountains to the east.

Microclimates vary from the valley floor to its benchlands and from the south to the north. Rain is more common along the Mayacamas in the west, whereas the eastern side is more arid with gravelly soil. In the valley, the south tends to be cooler than the north, thanks to San Pablo Bay.
